This year Achill’s holiday concert celebrates the season with a wonderful array of bold, lively and serene pieces. Our featured work, A Winter Day, by Canadian composer Sarah Quartel, celebrates the passage of time through one glorious winter day, invoking visions of a frosty day and glistening snow.
Our guest director, Jenny Crober, will lead us through the programme, which will also include delightful pieces such as Christmas Lullaby, Hine Ma Tov, Fum Fum Fantasy and more. Accompanying us will be our longtime collaborative pianist, Nancy Dettbarn.
We will be joined by guest musicians The Bells of Westminster handbells choir, directed by Shirley Jemmett; Angela Dong (cello); and Sean Derraugh (clarinet).
