Teaching Artist Series
Join professional artist and art instructor Andrew Cheddie Sookrah for a discussion regarding his artistic practice, personal background, and his painting expeditions across Canada, Ireland and China.
Sookrah will discuss his teaching methods, which touch on personal creative expression supported by established colour theory, design and composition, as well as the importance of building self-confidence. Participants will have the opportunity to engage directly with the artist, who will field questions from the audience. Following a short intermission, audiences will be able to watch as Sookrah challenges himself to create a painting in just 39 brushstrokes, a challenge set by the late Canadian painter Robert Genn.
