Modern Batik (East African Fabric Art) Workshop with Deon Best – Ages 12+

An afternoon adventure creating landscapes imagined or inspired by the art gallery exhibition Yours to Discover: Sights/Sites of Peel Region.

Batik is an art form that uses wax and dye to create designs on fabric. Discover this amazing technique and design your own one-of-a-kind batik artwork! In this workshop, participants will learn the basic techniques of batik and create their own unique piece of art. No prior experience necessary and all materials will be provided. Join us for this exciting opportunity to learn a new art form.

About Deon Best:
Deon Best is a multidisciplinary Brampton artist with a background in graphic design, digital and traditional art. His portfolio covers a wide range of artistic mediums, including his main focus – Modern Batik Art. As the premiere Modern Batik artist in Canada, Deon has taught Modern Batik to all ages and skill levels over the last twelve years!
