Orangeville Lions Effective Speaking Contest

March 7 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Each year the Orangeville Lions Club organizes an Effective Speaking Contest to promote competitive speaking among students and inspire independent thinking .

The Orangeville Lion Club sends out rules and invitations through school principals to all students in grades 4 to 12, inviting them to participate.

Participants depending on their level – Junior, Intermediate or Senior – deliver a speech of 5 to 7 minutes prepared in advance. They also must prepare and deliver a 3-minute impromptu speech. The participants select a topic from a list and are then given 15 minutes to prepare.

Regularly, we host up to 30 participants for our local contest. At the end of the competition, a light luncheon is served and a celebration of the contest takes place with all contestants receiving certificates and cash prizes.
