Scottish Gaelic Diaspora – Camryn Ruthven – All Ages

October 19 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Uniting her passions for music and history, Camryn explores the Gaelic lineage in this presentation, unearthing our local Grey-Bruce Gàidhlig heritage through story and song to honour the ancient ways in this modern era. What is diaspora? The dispersion of people from their original homeland. She believes it is critical we work toward decolonizing ourselves and reclaiming the ancestral teachings within our lineages so we might become aligned allies for harmonious cross-cultural connections, collective healing and sustainable ways of life. Language and music, as living cultural traditions, have the power to carry these teachings and share their resonant power with others. Camryn weaves the medicines of earth-centredness and Gàidhlig traditions into her own creative tapestry through poetry, songwriting, vocal improvisation and instrumentation (primarily piano/guitar/bodhrán).

Cash bar and food available. No ATM on-site. Please bring cash.
