The Northmen Way Documentary

July 6

$20

This is a story of family, community, and commitment to success. It’s a story of championships, heartbreaking losses and bench-clearing brawls. It’s an exploration of the deeper meaning behind this Indigenous sport known as the “medicine game.” Through interviews with legends of the sport and rare game footage, discover the rich history of lacrosse, the town of Orangeville and the iconic Northmen.

For the small town of Orangeville, Ontario, lacrosse is a way of life. It’s in the DNA of the community. The Northmen started out in the late 1970s as a team of misfits and brawlers. That scrappy group built a lacrosse juggernaut and a winning culture that has endured for more than 40 years. Today, the Jr. A Northmen are the most successful team in the most competitive box lacrosse league in the world. The pro leagues are flushed with its alumni from the players to coaches to GMs. And what’s even better? They keep coming home and giving back to the next generation.

As the filmmakers and Northmen alumni, we are passionate about this community and this story. This film is a labour of love we hope will resonate far beyond the borders of Orangeville and the lacrosse community.
This is a true underdog tale defined by all those that cared about building something special for their community and its youth. None of the pride, none of the memories, none of the championships exist without the people. The volunteers, the coaches, the trainers, executives, sponsors, parents, fans, and every player that put on a jersey and played this great game with respect and “Northmen grit.”
