White Owl Native Ancestry Presents The Blanket Exercise
September 19 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
The Blanket Exercise was developed in response to the Report of the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples in 1996 and the 2015 Truth and Reconciliation final report, which recommended education as a key step to reconciliation. It was developed in collaboration with Indigenous elders, knowledge keepers and educators. Presenters Shannon Pride and Sasha Sky from White Owl Native Ancestry will take you on a unique, interactive, and participatory experience to help foster awareness and understanding of the historic and contemporary relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada.
White Owl’s current mission is a continuation of this initial vision – specifically, they endeavor to enhance the lives of First Nations, Métis and Inuit People in the Wellington, Dufferin and Kitchener/Waterloo region.
$10; children 12 & under $5, call 519-941-1114 to reserve or buy online at dufferinmuseum.eventbrite.com.
