This photographic essay from Canadian photographer Yuri Dojc celebrates the Canadian descendants of freedom seekers who escaped slavery in the United States in the years before the American Civil War. Explore works by Brampton-born Ronald Bloore, who later became the founding member of the Regina Five, paving the way of the Abstract movement in Canada in the 1960s. Inspired by his travels abroad, Bloore renounced the use of colour in 1962, hoping to achieve the same awe-inspiring quality he felt while looking at ancient architecture.
