Day 3
Cody arrived to his first check point slightly frustrated as there was a loss of Trail marks due to some nice new telephone poles.
After some crucial sleep (and a late night chicken binge) Cody left the campsite on time at 6:00am. Took a quick picture with Wiarton Willie and was back on the trial.
As solo support thank you to the rest of the early risers shooting me a text in the morning. It truly is a team effort and you may not be with us physically each day but your words and thoughts are. The motivation it gives is priceless and a constant reminder of the unfailing support behind this endeavor. Thank you
Cody arrived to his first check point slightly frustrated as there was a loss of Trail marks due to some nice new telephone poles. However he did make it and was able to fuel up again before he was sent on his way.
I expected to see him again around 1:50pm however was pleasantly amazed when he arrived at 1:20pm. Complete with a good mood and appetite (…some force feeding may have been involved).
**Sensor – gory description, not for the faint of heart
Over the past two days Cody acquired a blister, the size of a small city, we even considered taking suggestions for names. Maybe to your surprise it was actually located on his hand due to the running poles he has been using on the trail. The decision was not to un-roof the blister until it had created a bit of a callous. He wore gloves during his run to ensure less irritation on the mass. However after removing his gloves at check point #2 he noticed it must have burst without his knowledge. Fortunately no blisters have shown on his feet or elsewhere….thanks to bag balm.
As we neared the end of the day it was apparent Cody’s kilometers were taking a toll on his body. We called it a day at about 7:00pm, full 13 hours on the trail. Cody’s request for pizza was delivered, but only with the guarantee of a 10 min ice bath. Positive rewards for good behavior.
Thank you to Kim , Steve and the family for putting us up this evening. Dinner was lovely, Cody is fast asleep, and I hear the laundry going. Kim, my sense of smell applauds you! Looking forward to day 4 tomorrow as he starts his run off with Karen, some much needed company on the trail.
Not to sound repetitive however, all of the positivity you send with your well wishes and donations go a long way…at least to the end of the Bruce if you ask me
Good night everyone, Until tomorrow…
