The Drew Jurecka Trio is led by Grammy-nominated violinist, composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Drew Jurecka. Violin is Drew’s primary instrument, but he also works frequently as a performer and recording sideman on viola, saxophone, clarinet and mandolin. Drew can be heard with his own group, or as part of one of his bands, The Hot Jazz String Quartet and the Hogtown Syncopators. For five years Drew played with Jeff Healey as part of his band, Jazz Wizards. In addition to Drew’s Jazz Trio, he also tours with The Venuti String Quartet and Payadora Tango Ensemble.
Drew will be playing with Nathan Hiltz on guitar. Nathan is a composer, educator and performer. Nathan is one of the most in-demand guitarists in Toronto. His collaborations are the “who’s who” of the Canadian jazz scene. Nathan teaches guitar at Humber College. Drew and Nathan have written several pieces together (some of which will be included in tonight’s program!).
On bass will be Clark Johnston. Clark has been with Drew’s trio for over a decade. A resident of Hamilton Clark is an important fixture of the music scene there. He is in high demand across the country as a collaborator.
