Born in Fordwich and Brampton, respectively, Franklin (1876-1941) and Caroline (1875-1939) Armington met while they were both studying art in Toronto. The two were married in France, and together they travelled across Europe etching and painting the sights.
Prints and paintings by the Armingtons have been collected by both Canadian and international galleries. Owing to a major acquisition in 1981, PAMA holds the largest public collection of Armington prints in the world.
