Autumn In The Hills

Find lots of ideas for fall fun, try your hand at making homemade pasta, and get a bird’s-eye view with drone cameras.

September 25, 2024 | | The Current Issue

September’s arrival heralds a season of fresh starts and a back-to-school energy you don’t have to be a kid to enjoy. The landscape shifts into washes of red, orange and gold. Work and school beckon after the slower pace of summer, and we reflect on what’s on the agenda for the last four months of the year.

Change is in the air more than usual at In The Hills too. With this issue, longtime contributor Tralee Pearce takes up the torch from founding publisher Signe Ball, who launched the magazine in 1994 and built it into the success it is today.

What hasn’t changed? This issue is packed, as usual, with engrossing reads to curl up with. We look at the ways local people are using drone photography in farming, conservation, real estate and more. We explore a fall arts calendar bursting at the seams and propose ways to keep the kids outside in all that fresh air. When it’s time to come inside, we suggest local foodie Liz Fusato’s cosy homemade pasta recipe to warm up.

In short, we hope you’ll join us in enjoying all that autumn has to offer here in Headwaters!
