Salsa Smackdown at the Bolton Fair

Sunday, September 23rd, Bolton Fair, 150 Queen St. S., Bolton, 12pm, Free to enter. – To enter this Smackdown, choose your best SALSA recipe. Write it up, include your name and phone number and email it to [email protected] subject line “Salsa Smackdown”, or write it down and bring it to the Fair on Thursday evening, to the desk in the President’s Building.  Show up at the Fair on Sunday September 23rd at 12:00 with your Salsa and proceed up to the auditorium with four jars of homemade salsa.  For more information, contact Leann at [email protected].

Adult Canning Bee – Apple Pear Chutney

Sunday, September 23rd, 12 – 5pm, Brampton Fairgrounds, 12942 Heart Lake Rd., $25 – Always wanted to make your own preserves? Eat Local Caledon and TRCA bring you this excellent hands-on learning experience. Learn the basics of the home canning process and take home six jars for your own pantries!

Cook Like A Local Chef – Mexican Cooking

Tuesday, September 25th, 6:30-9pm, Palgrave Community Kitchen, 34 Pine Avenue, $35 – Chef Adam Ryan, of Pia’s on Broadway, returns to share his culinary wisdom. This time, he is teaching us how to make Fish Tacos, from start to finish. This means learning how to make flour tortillas, clean and prep trout fillets, make hot sauce and more. Riverdale Farm & Forest Tour

Thursday, September 27th, 5:30-7:30pm, 15707 McLaughlin Rd., Inglewood, $5 – Local drinks, appetizers and an engaging tour of this newly-established organic vegetable farm operation in the heart of the Village of Inglewood. Local Harvest Turkey Dinner

Saturday, September 29th, 4pm, Palgrave United Church, 34 Pine Avenue, Palgrave, Adult $20, Senior $15, Child $10, Take Out $17 – A wonderful turkey dinner that features all local foods!  The crowds were lined up last year for 4pm ticket sales.
