Caledon East artist Russna Kaur draws her inspiration from places where people gather, where patterns emerge from seemingly random action. At festivals, flea markets, amusement parks and the like, “we begin to move as one entity,” she notes. “These places are often collaged layers of lights, sounds, signs, colours, and smells in combinations that become surreal – so beautifully overwhelming.” With a background in fashion, pattern, repetition, layering and colour are key aspects of her work. “I strive to produce dynamic pieces that change and create different experiences depending on the individual viewing them.” russnakaur.com.
