Heatherlea Farm Shoppe Sugar Cookies
Use this sugar cookie as the base for your icing artistry.
At Heatherlea Farm Shoppe these sugar cookies show up as Christmas trees, snowflakes, gingerbread men and more. Use whatever shapes you like and have fun with icing. This recipe makes about 6 dozen small cookies or 2 dozen large.
Heatherlea Farm Shoppe Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
- 2 cups unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups white sugar
- 4 egg yolks
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 4 ½ cups unbleached all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp kosher salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- With an electric mixer, cream together butter and sugar. Add egg yolks and vanilla, and mix well.
- Sift flour and salt together, and beat into butter mixture until well mixed.
- When ready to bake, use an ungreased cookie sheet and place cookies 1 inch apart. Bake for about 10 minutes, but do not brown them.
- Remove cookies from sheet while still warm and cool on racks. Decorate as you wish (but they are also delicious plain!)
